Getting to Smithers, B.C.
Smithers looks like it’s way up north, but we are actually still in the southern half of this wonderful place called British Columbia. In fact, you can ski in the afternoon of the same day you left Vancouver! No long drives from the airport to the staging area. No vehicle rentals. You pay a bit more for flying to Smithers, but save more than that by saving your rental car costs (no car needed) and by our cheaper prices.
Here is how you get here (don’t worry, all the roads are paved and fast!):
Travel Details
- Daily flights from Vancouver on Air Canada Jazz or Hawkair
- Passenger service on VIA Rail
- Greyhound Bus Service
- 4 hours driving time from either Prince George or Prince Rupert on Highway 16
Check Air Canada’s or Hawkair’s schedules and fares well before you plan to travel. They often have seat sales that bring the fare down to $300 to $400, which is not too much for a 800 km flight. Booking well in advance helps!
If you have more time, check out travelling by ferry from Vancouver Island to Prince Rupert, then by train to Smithers. This is an unforgettable trip.
