Ideal for seekers of refuge, rest, inspiration and peace, the retreat will bring together a small, supportive group of people for a contemplative week in a spectacular setting.

Each day will be an experience. We will be

  • practicing yoga and meditation techniques that help to create balance in our lives
  • exploring a myriad of mountain trails and alpine flora
  • learning to open the imagination through creative writing, poetry, visual art and song

This retreat nurtures our capacity for holistic wellbeing and self-care. We will explore the concept that individuals who are effective are able to take care of themselves, others, the community, and the environment.

Surrounded by the stillness and quiet of rock, we can begin to feel meditative awareness on a deep level.

Our aim is to provide an experience of ‘living peace’, so people can come down from the mountain with practical ways to re-create it in their day-to-day lives.

Ability level

This retreat is designed for all levels of yoga and meditation practitioners, from rank beginners to those with their own practice.

The hikes will be determined on a collective basis.

Cost: $1,675 (plus 7% tax) per person.

This includes: your floatplane trip from Smithers to Burnie Lake and back, acommodation and all meals at the lodge, yoga instruction, and use of all facilities.

Not included is your access and stay in Smithers, personal gear, and alcoholic beverages at the lodge.

Facilitators:

Phillipa Beck is a certified Hatha Yoga Instructor who has been practicing yoga for more than a decade. She teaches classes, workshops and retreats. A journalist and writer by profession, Phillipa regularly attends Sivananda, Iyengar and Vipassana-based training. Her teaching reflects her interest in the subtle methods of connecting the mind, body and breath both during one’s practice and in everyday living.

Jean Christian is a Homeopath with a 4-year-old practice based in Smithers and Victoria. She has been teaching meditation and leading contemplative retreats for the past 15 years. A Master Herbalist, she conducts workshops about medicinal and wild botanicals. Jean does Life Guidance Counselling, is author of the recently published book ‘Cycles of Wisdom’, a musician, and mother of four daughters.
